Sour turnip Soup: It is one of the well-known soups in Iraq, which is mainly made from turnip. It is considered the best winter soup because of its health benefits for the human body. Because it contains the necessary nutrients, the most important of which are proteins, carbohydrates, and fiber.

How to make turnip sour soup

the components :

  • Four grains of turnip .
  •   Bunch of chard.
  • Two lemons.
  • a cup of rice.
  • Two tomatoes.
  • big onion
  • Kibbeh groats stuffed with meat.
  • tomato sauce.
  • Two tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  • Black pepper, and salt.
  • A spoonful of lemon juice.


How to prepare :

  • Chop the chard, peel the turnip , and cut it into cubes.
  • Put the oil in a saucepan, add the spinach, and brown it slightly.
  • Add the onion, chard, and stir the ingredients until wilted.
  • Grind three tablespoons of rice.
  • Add three tablespoons of tomato sauce to the slaw and boil.
  • Add enough boiling water to reach more than half of the saucepan.
  • Cut the tomatoes into quarters, and chop with an electric blender.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes and rice to the mixture, and mix the ingredients well so that they do not clump.
  • Stir the ingredients until they are homogeneous, and leave them on the fire until they reach the boiling point.
  • Add the remaining amount of rice, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper, and leave the soup until it boils completely, taking into account the stirring from time to time.
  • Add the jareesh kibbeh to the mixture. Leave the soup on the fire for an additional half hour, stirring every two minutes, to prevent the ingredients from sticking to the bottom of the pot. Soup can be served with bread.
